untitled

“There is almost nothing left of the sea but a word without water…”

Staring into water has been a method of meditation throughout history. You can now download water meditation videos onto your desktop, thus eliminating the need to actually experience a physical exchange between yourself and a body of water. In much the same way, we watch nature shows on television in lieu of actually going out of doors. We hem in nature and create a bounded system as only technology can do.

Mediated experiences like these are endemic to contemporary society. Viewing untitled and the reality of being absorbed by the movement and sounds of water, moving in but also moving out, speaks to the fluidity when the real and the construted intersect.
